About Oswald

Oswald Kouame is a musician born in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in West Africa.
Of the age of 7 he starts banging on the drums without being invited. And he started his professional career in music when he was a teenager.

Gnaore, Dobe Gnaore, Kassav, Devarieux Jacob, Thierry Cam, Philip Montero, Dan Junior, just to name a few, snapped strikes of the artist who has no time for himself. ”It is the fairy that everyone wants.” It also shares the same scene with Lokoué Kanza, Youssou N’Dour, Angelique Kidjo, Tiken Jah, Alpha Blondy, Ron Kenoly, Maggie Blanchard, Akadi, etc., and also participates in a musical workshop with Richard Bona listed.

Oswald Kouame many concerts, festivals, gala, always in collaboration with several musical groups. Not lacking in imagination, he created a language to date performed by a circle of intimate world of showbiz, LAKALAWAZALA, which means the joy of living together … .. and brings together the best artists and musicians and Ivorian international.

And as a songwriter, he made a lot of beautiful original songs.
Oswald can make music by using sand, leaves, branches, rice or water as a musical instrument.
He receives inspiration from nature and has established himself with this one unique style of music.

Oswald came to Japan in 2013 and formed a transnational band -‘N’Zassa Music’ – joined by excellent Japanese and African musicians.
They did gigs & concerts ,festivals in Tokyo,Yokohama,Chiba,Ibaraki and at Nagoya, Gifu, Osaka, Kagoshima, Kumamoto etc.

He appeared on NHK – Japanese national TV program, he performed at events at Cote d’Ivoire embassy in Tokyo and performed for kinds’ of event of this embassy sponsorship, South Africa chamber of commerce (SACCJ) sponsorship , TICAD Yokohama 2019 (International Conference on African Development), and he joined to a project BON for AFRICA (Hibari Misora x DJ KOH).

Also he is joining another band for Japanese school-concerts and rhythm-workshops for Japanese youth – from elementary schools to high schools, art colleges.

He loves Japan so much, but many overseas fans, especially Ivory Coast fans could not wait his live performance.
Since 2016 he has had tours in Côte d’Ivoire almost every year. And went to a tour in India in 2016 , tour in Paris and Berlin in 2019.

And he released his 3rd album ‘ GNINFANGUI’ in June 2019.
He spent 5 years to write all songs in this album mainly in Japan.
And those have been recorded and have completed in Côte d’Ivoire at last.
A wonderful album filled with all Oswald’s passion, heart and soul.

What’s ’N’ZASSA’

N’zassa (N ZASSA) is Baoulé language that means ‘colorful’ , ‘a lot of different colors’ or ‘rich in the color’.
When Oswald meets the musicians with various nationalities, ethnicity, music genres and backgrounds… N’Zassa Music that nobody has ever seen will be born, and everybody can’t help dancing.
